• Runtime environment: The X4 Server is based on the Java platform (Version 17.0.12). With version 17, Azul Zulu 17.52.17 (Java 17 (LTS)) is already integrated as a runtime environment.

• Application server: The X4 Server uses an integrated WildFly application server in version 33.0.2.

• Authentication providers: The X4 Server uses the authentication provider Keycloak in version 26.x.

Note:

You can use alternative or existing Keycloak installations in your organization, provided that they are compatible with the X4 BPMS. For more information, see X4 BPMS and Keycloak - Compatibility Matrix.

• System database: The X4 Server requires a system database to manage runtime and authentication information. The following databases are supported:

  • Oracle (required minimum version: 19c)

  • Microsoft SQL Server (required minimum version: 2019)

  • PostgreSQL (required minimum version: 14)

The following requirements apply to Windows/Linux VM only:

• At least 2 processor cores

• At least 5 GB of free hard disk space

• At least 8 GB RAM

Note:

Starting with a number of 500 processes to be executed, we recommend a system with at least 8 processor cores and 16 GB main memory, which must be available exclusively for X4 Server.

Note on Docker:

There are no minimum requirements for the operation under Docker. The allocated resources for an X4 instance in Docker should be determined independently and individually based on the specific use case. For more information, see https://hub.docker.com/r/softproject/x4_server.

X4 Web Apps can be used across platforms via a browser.

Current browser (also mobile) with JavaScript enabled:

• Google Chrome (version 128 and higher)

• Mozilla Firefox (version 130 and higher)

• Microsoft Edge (version 128 and higher)

• Apple Safari (version 17.6 and higher)

Recommended: Enable the hardware acceleration.
