X4 System Requirements 7.5.0

X4 Server

Operating system

  • Microsoft Windows Server

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu Linux, Debian GNU/Linux

Platform

  • Runtime environment: The X4 Server is based on the Java platform (version 17.62.17). With version 17, Azul Zulu 17.52.17 (Java 17 (LTS)) is already included as runtime environment.

Note:

In 64-bit systems, Java 17 or more is required as a JDK. This can be replaced by a newer JDK installation if desired and required.

  • Application Server: The X4 Server uses an integrated WildFly application server version 39.0.1.

  • Authentication provider: The X4 Server requires an OIDC-compliant authentication provider.

Note:

If you want to use Keycloak as your authentication provider, you can use alternate or existing Keycloak installations in version 26 or later in your organization, provided that they are compatible with the X4 BPMS. For more information, see X4 BPMS and Keycloak - Compatibility Matrix .

Hardware requirements

The following requirements apply to Windows/Linux VM only:

  • At least 2 processor cores

  • At least 5 GB of free hard disk space

  • At least 8 GB RAM

Note:

From a number of 500 processes to be executed, we recommend a system with at least 8 processor cores and 16 GB RAM, which are available exlusively for the X4 Server.

Note on Docker:

There are no minimum requirements for operation under Docker. The assigned resources for an X4 instance in Docker should be determined independently and individually based on the specific use case. For more information, see https://hub.docker.com/r/softproject/x4_server.

X4 Web Apps

Operating system

X4 Web Apps can be used across platforms via a browser.

Platform

Current browser (also mobile) with JavaScript enabled:

  • Google Chrome (version 128 and later)

  • Mozilla Firefox (version 130 and later)

  • Microsoft Edge (version 128 and later)

  • Apple Safari (version 17.6 and later)

Recommended: Enable the hardware acceleration.


X4 Designer

  • Microsoft Windows

  • Microsoft Windows Server

  • Compatible with MacOS from processor "M1"
