X4 Designer – Interactive Installation

This installation package contains the X4 Designer, which is the graphical user interface of the X4 BPMS, and is provided as an .msi file for installation on Microsoft Windows for production purposes.

Note:

To use the X4 Designer, a connection to an X4 Server and an authentication provider is required.

Note:

With an .msi file, you can run one version of the X4 Designer at a time. The installation package containing the .msi file overwrites existing installations. This can cause problems and data loss.

If you would like to use several parallel versions of the X4 Designer, please download the X4 Designer – ZIP archive package.


How to install the X4 Designer – Interactive Installation package

  1. Download the X4 Designer – Interactive Installation package from the Resources > X4 Downloads section of the SoftProject website.

Note:

When downloading MSI files using Microsoft Edge, a message such as the following may appear:

Proceed as follows to save and run the file:

  1. Move the cursor over the text and select the three points (More actions...), which are displayed to the right.

  2. Select Keep.

  3. In the dialog window that opens, select Show more , and then Keep anyway.

  1. Open the .msi file to run it.
    The installation wizard starts.

  2. Select Next to proceed to the next step.

  3. Accept the suggested installation path or select Change to specify a different path. You can use the Create a Shortcut for X4 Designer on the Desktop checkbox to create a shortcut on the desktop.

  4. Select Next to confirm your details and proceed to the next step.

  5. Select Install to run the installation.
    The progress of the installation is now displayed.

  6. Finish to complete the installation.

Note:

If you enable the Launch X4 Designer when setup exits option, the X4 Designer will start immediately after installation.

The X4 Designer was installed at the specified path.

  1. Start the X4 Designer to check the installation if it has not already started automatically.

Note:

Unattended installation

The X4 Designer can also be installed through an unattended installation.
To do this, at the command prompt, type a command that contains the location of the installation file and the parameters you want to use.
Example: C:\<location of the .msi file> /q/n /L*V C:\temp\test.log.
To perform the unattended installation, you must have administrator privileges.


Uninstalling the X4 Designer

You can uninstall the X4 Designer either from the Windows Start menu, from the Windows Control Panel, or by rerunning the installation file (.msi).

How to uninstall the X4 Designer

  1. Double-click the .msi file.
    The installation wizard home screen opens.

  2. Select Next to open the Change, repair or remove Installation dialog.

  3. Select Remove.

  4. In the next window, select Remove again to begin the uninstallation.
    The progress of the uninstallation is displayed.

  5. Select Finish to complete the uninstallation.
    The X4 Designer has been uninstalled.
