Creating ESB Projects

There are different options to create ESB projects:

  • Via New ESB Project on the X4 Designer Welcome page
  • Via the context menu New > ESB Project within the Projects view
  • Via the File > New > ESB Project menu

How to create an ESB project

  1. Select File > New > ESB Project in the X4 Designer.
  2. Select an empty project template or an already existing template.

It is also possible to create projects based on a template from an older version of the X4 Suite. These are migrated automatically during creation.

  3. Enter the project name in Project name.
  4. Click Finish to create the project.
An empty ESB project with the predefined structure is created within the Projects view.
You can now select and create various elements for your ESB project using the context menu. The available options change depending on where in the tree structure the context menu is opened.

If you select the Expert ESB Project project type when creating the project, you can create an empty ESB project without a predefined folder structure. With this project type, you can work in expert mode and can freely define the folder structure and the elements it contains.

Notes on the usage of ESB projects from older X4 versions:

  • ESB projects from X4 versions prior to 6.x will automatically be imported into an Expert ESB Project.
  • Classic ESB Projects from older X4 versions will be automatically transformed into an Expert ESB Project.
