Connecting the X4 Designer to the X4 Server

Before you can work with the X4 Designer, you must first start the X4 Designer and connect it to the X4 Server.

Note:

You cannot use all functions of the X4 Designer without connecting to the X4 Server as the X4 Server controls the necessary background processes for using the X4 Designer.

Starting the X4 Designer

1. Open your X4 installation folder.

2. Double-click the X4 Designer link.
   ✅ The X4 Designer opens.

Connecting to the X4 Server

1. In the X4 Designer, click the icon to connect the X4 Designer to the X4 Server.
   If the connection has not yet been established, this icon is the only icon that appears in the toolbar.
   ✅ The X4 Designer is now connected to the X4 Server.

2. If you have not already installed a license, you will be prompted to install a valid license.
